Scalp Acupuncture

Jiao’s Scalp Acupuncture

scalp acupunctureScalp acupuncture was developed by three main contributors in the 1970’s. One of the contributors was Dr. Jiao Shunfa, a physician in Northern China.

All scalp points are selected over the related functional areas of the brain. Thin needles are inserted under the skin over areas associated with the patient’s diagnosis.

Scalp acupuncture works best for diseases in which there is brain involvement such as strokes, Parkinson’s disease, and traumatic brain injuries. For strokes, immediate treatment is not recommended as it may increase the chances of bleeding. Usually treatment of stroke effects can begin about a week after the event. Scalp acupuncture has been proven to be effective when begun up to 2 years after a stroke.

Many other conditions can be treated by specially trained acupuncturists. Please call us for a free consultation to discover if scalp acupuncture would be helpful to you.
