Long before and during the creation of her alternative medicine and holistic health practice, The Flying Needle Oriental Medicine, Dr. Mary Sudduth was a veteran medical professional. An overview of her diverse career has illustrated a lifelong devotion to the service of others. While presently retired from clinical practice, she still devotes time to the care of others by providing information, education, and personal insights through the Flying Needle site.
Beginning her career in the medical field in 1976, Mary quickly sought to build a robust set of experiences starting in the earliest years. She acquired national registries in Obstetrics, Gynecology, Abdominal, Vascular, and Cardio ultrasound. Not only did Mary continue her education, certifications, and hands-on experience within the sphere of medical sonography, but she also lived and worked abroad in the United Arab Emirates for 10 years, which further expanded her cultural horizons.
Journey to Alternative Medicine
After many decades of faithful and accomplished service in the Western medical field, Dr. Mary sought to make another major shift in the focus of her career. Her desire to help patients, with a holistic approach to wellness, led her to study with and graduate from the American College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Houston, Texas.
Mary has been able to offer healing and wellness as a Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine D.A.C.M., a Diplomat in Oriental Medicine Dpl. O.M., a Medical Qigong practitioner M.Q.P., plus a licensed acupuncturist L.Ac.
The many years of training required for a Doctorate of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine not only included acupuncture, but also herbology, energy work such as Medical Qigong, as well as gua sha, moxibustion, cupping, essential oils, and other traditional treatments.
Beyond her expertise and skill as a D.A.C.M., Mary is known and loved for her devotion to her patients, her warm compassionate smile, and a positive attitude that has built strong working relationships throughout a full career.
