The Flying Needle is a site dedicated to informing those interested in the benefits of Chinese medicine. The name of this site “Flying Needle” is not only a virtually painless acupuncture technique, but it is also a salute to Dr. Mary’s father. The site motto “You were born to Soar!” was inspired by her father, a former pilot whose sensibilities were planted firmly on the ground while his heart soared among the clouds.
Traditional Chinese Medicine is a holistic approach to healing that dates back thousands of years in Chinese history. Its principles and practices draw heavily from the records in classical texts of Chinese Medicine. The practices include Acupuncture, QiGong, Gua Sha, Medicinal Herbs, Cupping, and other traditional treatments.
Dr. Mary Sudduth founded the Flying Needle in the Houston area with an aspiration to provide acupuncture services that place patient well-being at its core. Upon moving to Cypress, Texas the Flying Needle became a referral and information service, continuing Mary’s reputation for devotion to her work with a caring demeanor that has built strong working relationships throughout a full career.
If you are curious, don’t know what questions to ask, or just don’t know where to get started by emailing Mary. She will be happy to answers any of your questions about holistic healthcare referral and information service.
You can expect easy and effortless scheduling. A warm and helpful response to any questions you may have. Before your first consultation .
To determine the type of acupuncture treatment that will help you the most, your practitioner may ask you about your symptoms, dietary, and lifestyle considerations. This initial evaluation may take 60 to 90 minutes. Thereafter, the following appointments usually take about 30 to 45 minutes.
Acupuncture points are in all areas of the body. Sometimes the appropriate points are far from the area of your pain. Your practitioner will tell you the general site of the planned treatment. If appropriate, a gown or sheet will be provided.
After an acupuncture treatment some patients feel relaxed and others feel energized. The practitioner may discuss your future treatment options with you as well as prescibing medicinal herbs, QiGong exercises, and dietary lifestyle considerations.
Mary, I am SO GRATEFUL to have met you and experienced Medical Qi Gong with you. I arrived with an open mind and curiosity about the practice. As you noticed, my calves were swollen and tight when I arrived. Also, I had been working very long hours on projects requiring focus and multi-tasking with competing demands for attention. The Medical Qi Gong was a gentle AND powerful experience for me. My body released what felt like truck loads of stress and pent-up energy in a gentle way. I feel so light and relaxed AND my calves are now free of swelling with soft, flexible muscles. After the session, I noticed what appeared to be miracles (or what others may call interesting coincidences) in my life. I definitely recognize the connection with releasing and balancing my energy with these occurrences. I look forward to my next visit and am recommending you to my friends.
Thank you so much Mary for the wonderful experience. Mary’s insight in diagnosing my condition was mysterious and yet impressively accurate. The Clinic was spacious, warm, and clean. I would recommend Flying Needle Medicine to everyone who is considering acupuncture. Mary is not just an acupuncturist... she’s a healer.
Mary's passion for her craft and her patients is undeniable. Her willingness to patiently listen and many areas of Oriental medicine knowledge enable her to formulate a plan of treatment that addresses the patient where they are now. I know this because at each session, when she inquires about the effects of the last session, she asks lots of questions and sometimes indicates that what she thought we would do that day is not the plan now. She has helped me not only with acupuncture, herbs, and medical qigong, but also by providing methods and changes I can do to help myself. I look forward to each session.
My experience with Mary was a holistic adventure of growth and healing. The authentic environment was a space where peace and vulnerability merged with energetic calibration. Thank you to the Flying Needle clinic and Mary for sharing her special talent's ability to balance life.
According to the World Health Organization, acupuncture treatments are considered VERY safe when performed by a licensed acupuncturist. Licensed acupuncturists in the state of Texas are required to have a M.A.O.M (Master of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine) and pass comprehensive national board examinations administered by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). As required by law, pre-sterilized, disposable, single-use needles are used to ensure your complete safety. Before you visit any acupuncturist, make sure they are licensed by visiting www. NCCAOM.org.
Many first-time patients are concerned that acupuncture needles will feel like hypodermic injections at the doctor’s office. They won’t, for one thing the needles are far thinner in diameter than the hypodermic needles. The sensation a patient feels from the needles vary from person to person, but generally needle insertions are not painful. Patients often describe a heavy, warm, or tingling sensation when they are resting with their needles. Most patients report a state of deep relaxation and an overall sense of well being during and after a treatment.
Is Stress a Result of an Overactive “Fight or Flight” Reaction? Years ago, I thought “stress” was a convenient excuse, a catch-all diagnosis with poor treatment outcomes. I still agree that we need to treat the immediate symptoms, but I now take a much longer and harder look at the stress in our lives. Chinese […]
As the coronavirus travels to your respiratory tract, your immune system fights back. Your lungs and airways swell and become inflamed. Although inflammation is a natural immune response when your body perceives an invader, in COVID19 patients with severe conditions it appears that their immune system may be sluggish. The resulting amplified immune response and […]
